Dr. Kristin Caudy

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Caudy was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Growing up, she got to know the veterinarian her parents used, and they had several pets including a cat that lived to be 21 years old!

Dr. Caudy attended Miami University to obtain her Bachelor’s in Zoology. After graduation, she worked for Procter and Gamble. Over time, she began to feel unfulfilled and considered alternative professions. She ended up going back to veterinary school at Ohio State University to receive her DVM, eventually deciding to open her own hospital less than a mile away from her family’s house!

Surgery is a special area of interest for Dr. Caudy because it allows her to be meticulous and artistic at the same time. She also likes working with rescue groups to get neglected dogs back on the road to good health.

At home, Dr. Caudy lives with her husband and two children. Golden Retrievers Frank the Tank, Ginger and Cheez love to come with Dr. Caudy to work, while the family cats HiYah, Violet, and Poppet love getting into mischief and redecorate the countertops! The family also cares for almost 40 chickens who live in a stylish hen house—the Caudys donate the eggs to two food pantries in Columbus.

Dr. Caudy says she spends most of her free time shuttling her kids around to various activities. When time allows, she enjoys gardening, reading fiction, and traveling with her family.

Dr. Jaimie Watts

Associate Veterinarian

Ever since she was a toddler, Dr. Jaimie Watts has felt an inexplicable reassurance and calm whenever animals were around. Her parents, both avid animal-lovers themselves, encouraged her fascination early on by taking four-year-old Dr. Watts to horseback riding lessons. For her, a career in veterinary medicine has always felt like her true calling!

Dr. Watts grew up in Lebanon, Ohio with her parents, a younger sister, and a menagerie of household pets. As a junior in high school, she started shadowing a local veterinarian, where she learned the ropes of the profession that still serve her well to this day. Next, Dr. Watts moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in animal science. She remained at OSU for veterinary school, then joined the Village Gate Animal Hospital team as an Associate Veterinarian shortly after graduation.

Dr. Watts brings with her specific medical interests in soft-tissue surgery and animal behavior. She truly adores being able to strengthen the bond between an owner and pet simply by improving an animal’s behavior patterns! Most of all, she likes getting to meet loving pet owners and their furry companions on a daily basis.

In her time away from work, Dr. Watts enjoys interior decorating, re-purposing old furniture, completing DIY projects around the house, and decorating cakes for special events. She and her boyfriend live with four pets of their own: a pair of mischievous cats named Jack and Japser, as well as two silly ferrets who go by Jax and Roux.

Dr. Lizzie Rieck

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lizzie Rieck’s childhood home in Salisbury, Maryland was never without a dog or cat; ever since she was a little girl, she’s cherished the intrinsic connections she felt with pets. Her passion never wavered! After her undergraduate studies in college, a lightbulb went off for Dr. Rieck: why not combine her love of animals with her scientific and medical interests by diving into the world of veterinary medicine?

Dr. Rieck attended the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia to study biochemistry and molecular biology, staying active in organic chemistry research throughout her undergraduate years. She then moved to Ohio to attend Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with her Doctorate in 2017. Dr. Rieck joined the Village Gate Animal Hospital family shortly afterward, and couldn’t be happier to serve the pets and animal owners of this area as one of the team’s Associate Veterinarians!

Around the hospital, Dr. Rieck especially enjoys dermatology cases, behavior modification and counseling, nutrition, dentistry work, and surgery. She also has a special love for our feline friends—Dr. Rieck suspects this has something to do with her first childhood pet, a sassy Calico cat who slept by her side nearly every night.

In her spare time, Dr. Rieck likes to stay active by hiking, running, cycling, and trying out new fitness classes. She’s also an avid sports fan and loves cheering on the Green Bay Packers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dr. Rieck is also fond of reading and writing, make-up, interior design and home organization, and do-it-yourself crafting.
