Diagnostics

BOOK APPOINTMENT
As humans, when we are sick, we have the ability to go to the doctor, to explain what’s wrong and to receive the appropriate treatment. When our animals become ill, or have suffered an injury, however, it’s much more challenging to figure out what’s wrong. Because pets can’t speak, they can’t tell us what’s bothering them, where it hurts or what their symptoms are. What’s more, many animals have a high tolerance for pain and can mask the signs of illness or injury for a long time. That’s why it’s up to us, as caring pet owners and veterinary professionals, to recognize that a problem may exist and take the appropriate measures to address that problem in a timely manner. At Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort, we rely on veterinary diagnostics to help us achieve this goal.

Diagnostic tools allow our experienced doctors to get a glimpse below the surface of the skin and learn exactly what’s happening inside your pet’s body so we can quickly and accurately diagnose and treat whatever is ailing them, improving the chances of a positive outcome. We start with a thorough physical exam, and then we turn to technology to help us further evaluate our patients’ health. From routine blood work to digital radiology, we’re well-equipped and fully prepared to handle even the most challenging of cases.

Radiology

Radiology – or x-ray – is a modern imaging technology that captures pictures of the inside of your pet’s body. X-rays allow our veterinarians evaluate the muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We’ll use this fast and painless diagnostic technique to check for any abnormalities or inconsistencies within your pet’s body so that we can address them in a timely and effective manner.
Our in-house laboratory allows our doctors to get the results they need, exactly when those results are needed. In many cases, we can have answers for you before you and your pet even leave our office. Our lab testing capability includes fecal analysis, urine analysis, heartworm testing, tick borne disease screening, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus testing, parvovirus testing, complete blood count, electrolytes, and blood chemistry profile. For those situations in which specialized diagnostics or expert consultation is deemed necessary, we enlist the help of a number of commercial veterinary laboratories that provide fast and accurate results.
